What We're Up To

Paddington Family Practice has stayed open throughout the covid pandemic. We have adapted to the many changes that have been thrown at us. We are proud that we have been able to keep our doors open in a manner that feels safe to both our staff and our patients. We feel strongly about providing the highest quality healthcare and are encouraging patients to return to face to face consultations.

Although the risk of COVID is currently very low we are continuing to recommend patients with respiratory symptoms wear masks, and thar all other patients hand sanitise and social distance. Diligence will help to keep the risk low. If you have respiratory symptoms we will continue to ask you to have a negative COVID swab before coming into the practice.

We have been grateful for the government allowing us to access medicare for telehealth services and we believe these consultations are very useful in certain situations. We will still be offering telehealth as long as the government will rebate these consultations in the same way as face to face consultations.

The Practice will be closed between Christmas and New Years Day to give our staff a much needed break after a very hectic year. We will close at lunchtime on Thursday 24th December and reopen 8.30am on Monday January 4th, 2021. During this time our after hours service will be available to patients of the practice.

Please be aware that many of our doctors will be taking some additional leave over December and January and so please book your appointments ahead of time.

In lighter news -

We have spent the last couple of months giving the waiting room a refresh. We hope you like the changes we have made. The paintings in the waiting room have been created by our very own talented receptionist Tracy Greenstone.

Dr Amy Dennis will be leaving Paddington Family Practice at the end of November to have her third baby. We wish her well managing 3 young children and are hoping to see her back at work in late 2021.

Dr Anna Marjason joined our team in September 2020 and we feel that she has been a great fit. Her warmth and experience have been as asset to our team. Dr Marjason will happily take over Dr Amy Dennis' patients until she also goes on maternity leave in early 2021.

We have been lucky enough to have Marie Campbell join PFP as our new manager. Her efficiency and experience has been appreciated by our whole team.

We are looking forward to welcoming two new experienced GP registrars to our practice in February 2021. Dr Karin Stern and Dr Kate Roberts will be great additions to our team.

Mental Health in the time of COVID

We, at Paddington Family Practice are well aware of the mental health impact of this pandemic.

From the 9th October, patients will be eligible for an additional 10 medicare rebatable psychology sessions per calender year. This change has been welcomed by GPs and psychologists. If you have already used your 10 medicare rebatable sessions for this year and feel that you would benefit from more psychology interventions please come in to speak to us about accessing these extra visits.

COVID19 Vaccination

We, at PFP are following closely the information regarding COVID19 vaccination and are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to offer this vaccine in the first half of 2021.

We will let you know through our website of any new vaccine developments and we will keep you informed of how the vaccine will be rolled out once it gets through the TGA approval process.
